Tutu Park Mall Evacuation Due To Strange Odor; Investigation Underway

ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS–At approximately 8:48 AM today, the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) responded to reports of a strange odor near the clinic and food court area of Tutu Park Mall. Fire and EMS personnel swiftly arrived on the scene and initiated a precautionary evacuation of the mall.

A team from the George P. Scott Fire Station (Tutu Fire Station), led by ranking fire officers, conducted a thorough search of the premises and confirmed that there was no fire in the area. Instead, the team identified an odor originating from a restaurant within the mall.

VIFEMS personnel remain on-site and are working closely with environmental health officials to continue the investigation. Tutu Park Mall will remain closed until the investigation is complete.

We urge the public to remain alert, and we will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
