VIFEMS Responds to Structural Fire at Peters Farm Road

ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – On December 5, 2024, at approximately 10:06 PM, Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) dispatched units from C Company and A Company to respond to a structural fire at Peters Farm Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters found two abandoned buildings fully engulfed in flames. Crews made entry from the northern side of the structures and worked diligently to extinguish the fire. Within 3 hours, the fire was brought under control, and VIFEMS cleared the scene at 1:30 AM on December 6, 2024. The fire remained confined between the two buildings, preventing damage to nearby properties. Notably, no injuries were reported during this incident.

At approximately 7:57 AM on December 6, 2024, VIFEMS responded to a second 911 call reporting smoke from the previously burned structures. Upon arrival, responding units found smoldering on the roof and around the front, rear, and sides of the buildings. Crews quickly extinguished the burning areas within 15 minutes, preventing the fire from rekindling.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and VIFEMS is committed to uncovering the source of the blaze while continuing to prioritize the safety and well-being of the Virgin Islands community.
