Firefighters Respond to Blaze at Hull Bay Hideaway Restaurant (The Shack)

ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – This morning, at approximately 7:03 a.m., Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) was dispatched to Hull Bay Hideaway Restaurant, also known as The Shack, after reports of a fire at the establishment.

As the restaurant was preparing to open, the fire broke out. Once on site, Echo and Hotel Company encountered an intense blaze that had engulfed the rear side of the building, which included the kitchen, laundry room, and storage area. Due to the intensity of the blaze, Hotel Company requested support from Lima and Tango Companies to help contain the fire.

With all fire crews on deck, the large blaze was successfully brought under control by 9:45 a.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no nearby properties were affected.

To facilitate emergency response efforts, road closures were implemented but have since been lifted. However, pedestrians are urged to exercise caution when traversing the area, as VIFEMS personnel remain on scene.

The Arson Investigation and Prevention Team arrived after the fire was contained and is now conducting an investigation into its cause. Hull Bay Hideaway will remain closed until the investigation is complete.

VIFEMS would like to thank the community for their understanding and patience as we work diligently to assess the situation and ensure the safety of all involved.
