ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Virgin Islands Fire & Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) officially concluded firefighting operations at the Bovoni Landfill as of 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025.
All visible flames and smoke have since been extinguished, and the area stabilized.
No injuries were reported during the multi-day response.
VIFEMS sincerely thanks Gasworks II Gas Station for generously providing refreshments and hydration to personnel working in the field. We also commend all VIFEMS personnel for their diligent and dedicated efforts in extinguishing the fire.
