VIFEMS Responds to Late-Night Fire in Smith Bay

ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at approximately 11:08 p.m., Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) responded to a structure fire in the Smith Bay area of St. Thomas.

Firefighters from Lima Company arrived on scene to find one wooden trailer, abandoned, fully engulfed in flames, with a second trailer partially involved. Fire crews immediately began suppression efforts to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. The fire was fully extinguished following a prompt and coordinated response.

No injuries were reported. The primary trailer sustained extensive damage and was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by VIFEMS.
