ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) is aware of the recent rise in vehicle fires on St. Croix, including the Sunday, August 17, 2025, incident at 9 p.m., when a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames in the Wendy’s parking lot.
VIFEMS crews responded promptly to the scene, extinguishing the flames and ensuring the safety of nearby residents and property.
While the causes of this and other recent vehicle fires are under investigation, the safety of our community remains our top priority. We encourage the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity or fires immediately by calling 911, and practice good fire safety habits, such as inspecting vehicles regularly for mechanical issues and avoiding storage of flammable materials.
“Our crews are committed to responding quickly and safely to every emergency. We want every resident in the Virgin Islands to feel protected and supported,” said VIFEMS Director Antonio Stevens.
