ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – On Thursday, March 26, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) received a report of a structure fire at the Christiansted Seventh-day Adventist Church property.
Upon arrival, crews from C Company encountered intense fire conditions involving an older, two-story building adjacent to the main church. Additional support was requested from A Company and F Company.
Firefighters swiftly initiated suppression efforts and brought the blaze under control in 15 minutes. The building sustained extensive damage, including severe damage to the roof and second floor. The perimeter remains secured with caution tape, and VIFEMS advises the public to avoid entering the building and to use caution when traveling through the area.
The main church was not impacted, and no neighboring properties were affected. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the VIFEMS Arson Investigation and Prevention Unit.
