ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — On Wednesday, May 20, at approximately 1:11 p.m., the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) responded to a structure fire in the vicinity of Estate Nazareth after receiving reports of visible smoke and flames coming from a residence.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed that the residence’s water heater room and a portion of the roof were engulfed in flames and immediately initiated suppression efforts. Crews also conducted a primary search of the residence and confirmed that no occupants were inside at the time of the incident.
The fire was brought under control with no injuries reported and no damage to nearby properties. The apartment sustained extensive fire damage and was deemed uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the VIFEMS Arson Investigation and Prevention Unit.
